Ebonyi State is among the 36 states in Nigeria, located in the SouthEastern part of Nigeria. Ebonyi state capital and largest city is Abakaliki. It was created on 1 October 1996. Ebonyi was created from parts of both Enugu State and Abia State. It is popularly called the “Salt of the Nation” due to its huge salt deposit. Ebonyi State has a Total land area of about 6,400 Km2.

There are 13 Local Government Areas in Ebonyi state: Abakaliki, Izzi, Ezza North, Afikpo South, Ohaukwu, Ebonyi, Oniocha, Ishielu, Ezza South, Ikwo, Afikpo North, Ohaozara, Ivo.

The Major crops in Ebonyi state are Rice, Yam, Potatoes, Maize, Beans and Cassava. Ebonyi state Solid minerals are Lead, Crude Oil, Salt and Natural Gas.
