Edo State is among the 36 states in Nigeria from the south-south region. It is called the “heartbeat of Nigeria”. It is an oil-producing state and is one of the nine Niger Delta states in Nigeria. Edo State is also endowed with a wide variety of mineral resources, arable land for cash crops and the largest oil palm yields in Nigeria. Edo State has a Total land area of about 19,187 Km2

There are 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs): Akoko-Edo, Egor, Esan Central, Esan North-East, Esan South-East, Esan West, Etsako Central, Etsako East, Etsako West, Igueben, Ikpoba-Okha, Oredo, Orhionmwon, Ovia North-East, Ovia South-West, Owan East, Owan West and Uhunmwonde.

The Major crops in Edo state are Rubber, Oil Palm, Cassava, Rice, Cocoa, Banana and Cashew. Edo state Mineral Resources are Crude oil, Limestone, Granite, Quartz, Marble, Gold and Rubber.
