Bauchi state is among the 36 states in Nigeria located in the Northeastern part of Nigeria, with the slogan “Pearl of Tourism”. It was formed on 3 February 1976. It is bordered by seven states, Kano and Jigawa to the North, Taraba and Plateau to the South, Gombe and Yobe to the East and Kaduna to the West. The Southwestern part of the state is mountainous an extension of the Jos Plateau, while the Northern part is generally sandy.
Bauchi State has a Total land area of about 49,119Km2. The state capital is Bauchi.
There are 20 Local Government Areas in Bauchi state namely: Bauchi, Tafawa Balewa, Bogoro, Dass, Toro, Ningi, Warji, Ganjuwa, Kirfi, Alkaleri, Darazo, Misau, Giade, Shira, Jama’are, Katagum, Itas/Gadau, Zaki, Gamawa and Dambam.
The Major crops in Bauchi State are Millet, Sorghum, Maize, Rice, Cotton, Ginger, Hibiscus, Gum Arabic, Garlic, Soybean, Sesame Seed, Pepper, Yam, Beans, Tomatoes, Sorghum and Groundnut.

There are three agricultural zones in Bauchi state: Western, Northern, and Central. Bauchi, Toro and Dass in the Western zone, Gamawa, Dambam, Misau, Shira and Katagum in the Northern zone, Warji, Ganjuwa, Darazo and Ningi in the Central zone.
