Jigawa State is one of the 36 states in Nigeria which was created on 27 August 1991, excised from Kano State. Jigawa State is located in Northern Nigeria and its bordered to the West by Kano State, to the East by Bauchi and Yobe States and to the North by Katsina and Yobe States and the Republic of Niger.

The State slogan is the New World and it is the largest producer of sesame in the country. Jigawa State’s land area is about 23,287 Km2.
