Osun State is one of the 36 states in Nigeria which is created on 27 August 1991. It is located in the South-Western region of Nigeria. The state is bounded in the North by Kwara State, in the East by Ekiti and by Ondo State, in the South by Ogun State and in the West by Oyo State.

Osun State’s slogan is “Land of Virtue”, the state derived its from the River Osun. it produces over 40,000 tons of quality cocoa annually and is a major Gold deposit in Nigeria. Osun State has a total land area of about 9,026 Km2

There are 30 Local Government Areas LGAs in Osun state namely Aiyedaade, Aiyedire, Atakunmosa East, Atakunmosa West, Boluwaduro, Boripe, Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, Ejigbo, Ife Central, Ife East, Ife North, Ife South, Ifedayo, Ifelodun, Ila, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Irepodun, Irewole, Isokan, Iwo, Obokun, Odo Otin, Ola Oluwa, Olorunda, Oriade, Orolu and Osogbo.

Its Major crops are Cashew, Cocoa, Maize, Cassava, Oil Palm, Tobacco and its Solid minerals are gold, Clay, Limestone, Kaolin, Granite.
