Cross River State is among the 36 states in Nigeria, It is also among the southeastern part of Nigeria. It was created on 27 May 1967 as South Eastern State. Its name was changed to Cross River State in 1976. The State slogan is the “Nations Paradise” houses 58% forestry of the country. Cross River State has a Total land area of about 21,787 Km2. The Capital is Calabar

There are 18 Local Government Areas in Cross River state namely: Abi, Akamkpa, Akpabuyo, Bakassi, Bekwarra, Biase, Boki, Calabar Municipal, Calabar South, Etung, Ikom, Obanliku, Obubra, Obudu, Odukpani, Ogoja, Yakur, Yala.

The Major crops in Cross River are Cocoa, Rice, Cassava, Oil Palm, Rubber, Banana, and Pineapple. Solid minerals formed in Cross rivers are  Limestone, Clay, Salt, Tin, Granite, Basalt, Quartzite, Kaolin, Sand and Feldspar.

There are three agricultural zones in Cross River state: Ogoja, Ikom and Calabar.
